Washing & Flushing: Private Communities
Unfortunately storm water runoff regulations
have made flushing or rinsing private streets illegal.
Yes, after the debris is removed by a
sweeper, following with a water truck to simulate Mother
Nature is now illegal.
Mother Nature can do it without
sweeping, so all the silt and trash go into the
storm drain. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but the
regulations don't have exceptions for regular maintenance
flushing.
Even the new catch basin filters are
not an answer. Only 100% capture of the wash water and
hauling to a treatment facility is approved.
